
H. Beau Altman, Ph.D., FACFEI, DABPS, CHS-IV
Dr. Beau Altman has a Ph.D. from Claremont; a Fellow, American College of Forensic Examiners (psychology); Diplomate, American Board of Psychological Specialties (clinical); holds a Homeland Security Certificate Level 4 (emergency evacuation); and, has a College Teaching Credential in behavioral sciences.
Beau began his aviation safety career in 1967. He is the founder and
president of HBAcorp, and executive advisor and councilor to Gray Stone Advisors, (turnaround and corporate renewal specialists).
He was influential in establishing National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) Corporate Flight Attendant and Flight Technician Committee and remains an advisor.
He co-designed the passenger safety information card format now an international aviation standard and, co-produced the first corporate aircraft passenger safety briefing video.
His human factor research has led to government mandated aircraft emergency lighting and exit sign design, and his self-study course, “Stress Management for Professional Pilots,” was a forerunner to business aviation Crew Resource Management (CRM).
Beau created FACTS, crewmember emergency training, EASI, cabin safety instruction for corporate executives, and ASCERT, aviation safety, crisis and emergency response training for business aviation crewmembers. Outside his aviation safety work, he partnered with Fremont Maritime Services in Seattle, WA to co-author and co-train “Crisis Management and Human Behavior,” and “Crowd Control” to meet International Maritime Organization’s compulsory curriculum for specified categories of cruise ship and ferryboats operating in international waters.
He is a member and a past-president of Survival and Flight Equipment Association (SAFE), a member of American College of Forensic Examiners International, American Board of Certification in Homeland Security, and National Business Aviation Association; and, he is an active member of Washington State Region 4 Medical Reserve Corps.
Dr. Altman is a three time nominee for the prestigious NBAA Meritorious Service Award, SAFE President’s Award and a 2010 receiver of an appointment to NBAA’s highly respected Order of the Silk Scarf .
